Front cover magazine 1st draft designs






Camera Shots

Film and television is made up of camera shots. Below I have included some:


















(Above) This as an establishing shot (EST). An establishing shot shows were an acion is or about to take place. It is usally and exterior shot, and usally a wide shot (WS). These shots are use to show a subjexts surroundings.



Above is a long shot. Long shots usally show all/most of the subject. The subject above (he chicken) is all shown.



























To he left is two examples of a medium shot. A medium shot usally shows a knees to head shot

Close up. Close ups show a characters face and their emotions. Below I have included some examples of close ups.


 (Left) is a image of a close up of chicken.









(Left) A close up image of a chickens face. Clearly all who see this image will be able to see the sad emoion the chicken is showing.

To the left is a medium close up image (MCU). MCU images are headshots.
BCU images are of he forehead to chin. These types of screen shots are use to show extreme emotion.

Extreme close ups are very high shots. They can be used over the shoulder during conversions.

High angle shots are use to make characters look vulnerable, here is an example:

A deep shot, is when something is in he foreground as well as the background. Below I have included a example of a deep shot.

An over the shoulder shot. Over the shoulder shots are typically used when people are having a conversation, left I have included an example.








Low angles are used to make other characters look powerful. Below are two examples.

Why is it called that? What connotations does the title have?
It is called this as has it has articles on things that happen all over the world and geographically. It is also to do with the world. National and geographic which are both words to do with the world and countries.

It is targeting people interested in the world as long as said people can read. Although it does have pretty picture for younger audience. (12-50+)

How can you identify the readership?
The size of writing and what the writing is about is a good indication.
by reading and looking at the pictures, they could send in letters about certain articles in the magazine.
Analyse the image the images on the front cover

There is one image on the front cover. It is a picture to do with the featured article. The picture is framed with bright yellow, which has become easy for viewers to reconise.
What does it tell us about this publication?This publication is smart and professional
What is featuring in the magazine?
The earth if the world floods (rising seas).
Analyse  typefaces, graphics, colours used throughout the magazine.
 Yellow is used on the cover, not so much any where else. Rest of magazine has black or white writing depending on background picture.

Not that I am aware of
Does your magazine look expensive?
It is a recogniesable magazine and so does not look cheap.
How does the reader interact with the magazine? 
By sending message in on the articles, perhaps giving information on certain topics, they can also contact the magazine through the website.

it addressed the reader as an adult that does not know the information it is providing.

Title: SciFi Now
Why is it called that? What connotations does the title have? Sci Fi now, has it’s name as it reviews Science Fiction stories (films/tv shows) that are being shown now. Hence it’s name SciFi Now.

What other interests does the publisher have? 
Imagine Publishing is a worldwide multimedia content producer and currently has a portfolio of over 20 regular print magazines, 25 websites, 30 mobile apps and over 130 bookazines and eBooks published worldwide within the four key markets – technology, photography, knowledge/science and video games.
Why do you think it is published as often as is it?
It is published every four weeks. It is not published every week as time is need four more tv, and episodes to come out.

It is published every four weeks.

What type of reader is it targeting?
The magazine it targeting a young adult or older audience, with an interest in scifi and fantasy tv shows. you can identify the readership by the clean, but also a lot of writing. It is not for children as children tend not to read movie reviews.
How can you identify the readership?
The readership can be identified by the writing type, pictures, and also the shows that are being reviewed. Children shows are not by reviewed so the magazine is obliviously not aimed for children.

The image on the front holds one image used as the background. Most words are going down the right side. There are words and other features on the banner on bottom of the magazine. On the top of the magazine there are what other shows are featured in the magazine.
What does it tell us about this publication?
It says that many shows are written in the magazine, and also what shows is featured in the magazine.
What is featuring in the magazine?Doctor Who.
Analyse  typefaces, graphics, colours used throughout the magazine.
Black and white writing is used depending on the surrounding images and what show is reviewed. Photos are used continually.
Does it look similar any other magazines?
Many magazine use pictures as backgrounds, and overlay words over it. Game/music and other movie magazines for example.
The reader interacts with the magazine by opening it. The images on the front cover is a picture of a character from a film/tv show. The magazine features movies. The type faces and graphic tend to be the same and simple, that but the occasional diagonal writing. The magazine does not look expensive, it looks as though something that you would pick up often. However it does not look cheap. Readers ca not address the magazine.  There are no models, all images of people are represented as how they where represented in there film/tv show.

Most magazines are not cheap I doubt this one is.

The reader can watch the programs the magazine has articles of, and see if they agree with any reviews.
