Title: Metal Hammer, Defenders Of The Faith.
Why is it called that? What connotations does the title have?
Metal hammer is a monthly heavy metal music magazine. This magazine probably has the name metal in it because it may have a lot of metal genre music. It uses the word hammer to attempt to seem hard. This is also a connotations, as metal hammers are of course hard, they would need to be to do their job. I have concluded the magazine is trying only to give the impression of being hard, and is in fact not selling hammers or any other tools for that matter.
Who publishes the magazine?
Team Rock
What other interests does the publisher have?
The publishers also run:
classic rock - Prog -Blues- and AOR
What other interests does the publisher have?
The publisher also has interests in other rock music, and not just heavy metal.
Why do you think it is published as often as is it?Metal Hammer is published once a month. It is publish this often as the writes must wait for time to past and the world to do things, before the of course write about them, and set their magazine up.

Once a month.

Analyse the image the images on the front cover
There is an image of a man, screaming, I am taking it he is not letting out a yelp of joy, or saying cheese, as he seems very angry. This mans fist has been Photoshopped to punch the stone letters MACHINE HEAD. I can tell that MACHINE HEAD is Photoshopped in at there is no way such a small man could smash stone with his fist, he's not even looking at where he's punching. Down the left hand side there are other bands that are featuring in the magazine, as well as the bar code. The title is layered behind the mans head, covering up one of the letter M. We know the word behind his head says hammer, because no other word could reasonably fit in there, although for a small while i did indeed think it said METAL HATMER, I have however discovered Hatmer, is not a word. Along the very top of the magazine there is a small banner, advertising important things the has, such as a free CD, and 28 breaking bands. What does it tell us about this publication?
I think the image of a man punch punching stone tells us the publication thinks metal is a violent magazine.
What is featureing in the magazine? As I have already mention they are featuring bands.
Analyse typefaces, graphics, colours used throughout the magazine.
Some the background of pages are white, however the common theme of red and black (as used on the cover) are use throughtout most pages. The white yellow red and black colours, are all repeated, although the yellow use only in writing. The typeface, unlike in most magazine where it is repeated, is different. They are similar type faces but they are all certainly different, this has been used as different bands would naturally use a different type face naturally, and it would look peculiar for certain type face only to be used once, so this has been repeated throughout the magazine. Pictures are used in low doses, if there appears not to be a picture on one page of the background, the background of the page will show as the picture. These pictures are used to keep interest in the younger viewers, also as it is a band magazine, it is expected to have more pictures of the band.

They all seem to dress mostly in black, hide behind guitars and point out of the magazine. It might relate to any angry members of the audience (viewers) .
How are men represented?
It is difficult to tell as they all seem to have long swishy hair, but apart from that they represented as singers.
Are there conflicting representatiuons?
Nope every man is staring angrily out the magazine, most women are too. Apart from the boobs that are advertising Americas newest rock heros Hinder Extreme behaviors (I have however have suspicions that the rock heros are not the boobs or the owner of the boobs, but in fact the photographs of boys the boobs are looking at ( I say boobs because the females face has been cut off and it is literally more or less just boobs).
What groups of people do not appear in the magazine?
Any other groups in existence, such as pop. There are no people who do pop. The are no hard of heavy metal music singers represented that do not dress in black and pull angry (or in pained?) faces. These do exist.
