Analysing: Gramophone

The title is in a banner across the top of the cover. The title is in capitals in an easy to read font. The white strip across the top make the magazine easy to recognise no matter the changing pictures on the front. This will make it easy for it to quickly find its readership.

The writing is done in a tall but classic font. This matches the classical music the magazine is reviewing. This font easily reaches its older target audience.

The font on the page uses blue, white, and black.  The blue matches the clothes on the person. The round circle is blue, and uses the black and white font. This is a good colour theme that matches the picture beneath it. This is easy to read and looks good.

This magazine is clearly aimed towards and older audience. It is easy to read with it’s simple style. It uses a picture of a person from the 18th century. Magazines aimed towards younger audiences tend to have younger, alive people featured on the cover. With this person on the cover it makes clear who the target audience is.

Contents:

The contents page is no good for its readership. Although the featured writing is written slightly bigger, the contents writing it’s self is written far to small. I have difficulty reading writing that small, and older audiences tend to struggle reading, this will make the writing extremely hard to read for its target audience.

The contents page uses the same cursive font for the subheading. It then uses the same fonts for writing, changing the colours of gold and black.  This is neat and very simple to follow. This is perfect for it’s audience.

Double Page Spread:

This double page has the title written in a hand written style. It is interesting, pretty, and big enough to read easily. Making it good for its audience.

On the left side is one large picture of the person. The person is talked about in the article. The layout is simple and easy to read, although plain.

There is a quote in the centre of the article. Although most of this article looks good the quote is place in the middle.  I do not think this looks good. Although it does again use the gold writing previously used through in the font, it looks like there is too much space left around the box and this does not look good.
